On Friday, Borger Police arrested 32-year-old Jarred Thomas Hooper of Borger after an arrest warrant was issued out of the 316th District Court charging Hooper with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
This arrest follows a lengthy investigation into the Tuesday shooting on Kiekbush, in which Hooper allegedly exchanged gunfire with another Borger resident. This charge is a first degree felony and carries a maximum of 99 years in prison if convicted. Hooper was arrested without incident at his residence.
The complaint filed with the court states that according to witnesses, Hooper arrived by vehicle at the residence on Kiekbush and the shooting ensued.
According to statements and evidence, Hooper arrived on scene following an argument and vague threats directed to a 3rd party, via cell phone. Hooper fired shots from the street/driveway, while the other man returned fire from the porch of the residence. That man was struck multiple times and Hooper was struck once. Neither party appears to have sustained life threatening injuries.
At the time of this release Hooper is in the Hutchinson County jail awaiting arraignment.
