“He’s the friendliest kid. He’s always open for everyone, wants to be everybody’s friend and if you didn’t know he was sick, you would never know it.”
It’s a birthday wish from a father for his little boy. Kiernan Clark has been in and out of Wilmington’s duPont Hospital for Children, fighting Hirschsprung’s disease. It’s an illness that affects the colon.
Kiernan’s Dad Kevin Clark says, “It’s going to be a long month but we’ve been through it before. I’m over it. I’m trying to get him better and hopefully this whole thing will put a smile on his face and it will make me feel a lot better seeing him smile.”
Kevin Clark took to social media explaining his eight-year old’s battle. He’s now calling on you, strangers, to send a birthday card to his son by this Friday. The third grader is forced to spend the day, and most likely the next month, at the hospital.
“If you had to write a birthday card to your son, what would that say to him, what would you write? I have no idea, he’s everything to me I don’t know, no idea, what are you thinking about? Him, I miss him.”
Kiernan has been through 43 surgeries already in his short life. But that hasn’t stopped him from thinking of others. The last two years he’s gathered up Christmas gifts and delivered them to sick children.
“It was all his idea, he has all the credit for it. I picked stuff up and I drive it there, but it’s all on him.”
He wants his son to see his colostomy bag as a sign of strength, not weakness. A father on a mission to make his son smile.
If you’d like to give Kiernan a birthday card, please send it to the following:
