Birth Control Pills Recalled For Incorrect Packaging

News

An error with packaging is prompting a nationwide recall of birth control pills.

The FDA announced Monday that Apotex Corporation is recalling four lots of Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol.

The affected tablets were distributed nationwide to wholesalers and distributors.

According to Apotex– packaging like these may contain defective blisters… Missing tablets… Or tablets that are arranged incorrectly.

That can diminish the effectiveness of the product and lead to pregnancy.

The company says it has not received any reports of this happening.

But– as a precaution– patients who have questions regarding this recall should contact your pharmacy or healthcare provider.
