An Amarillo man accused of attempting to hire someone to kill his wife’s lover may stay in jail a while longer
Billy Ivy, Jr. could be headed to federal prison after admitting to Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.
Ivy faces up to 10 years in the federal penitentiary and a $250,000 fine for Possession of an Illegal Silencer.
He is expected to make the formal guilty plea Tuesday in federal court.
Investigators say they found three silencers in Ivy’s home safe while searching the property in connection with the murder-for-hire case.
Ivy is charged with Attempted Capital Murder in that case and remains behind bars without bond in Randall County.
His sentencing on the gun charges will be held at a later date.
