(NBC News) Vice President Joe Biden won’t be launching his own campaign for the White House.
Flanked by his wife Jill, and with President Obama behind him, Biden used the White House Rose Garden Wednesday to announce he’s not going to run.
“Unfortunately, I believe we’re out of time, the time necessary to mount a winning campaign for the nomination,” Biden said.
The vice president added that does mean he’ll not be involved in presidential politics over the next year.
“I believe that President Obama has led this nation from crisis to recovery and we’re now on the cusp of resurgence,” Biden said. “I’m proud to have played a part in that. This party, our nation will be making a tragic mistake if we walk away or attempt to undo the Obama legacy.”
