Artificial intelligence can detect childhood depression

Children struggling to express their emotions could now get some help from artificial intelligence.

Something experts are also using to detect signs of depression in young ones.

This according to a new study published in the journal of biomedical and health informatics.

Experts say a majority of kids under the age of eight are undiagnosed with anxiety and depression.

But now – a new algorithm is helping identify kids quickly.

Over 70 children were asked to come up with a story that would be judged.

The algorithm worked with 80 percent accuracy to pinpoint which prediagnosed children were suffering from an internalized disorder.

The technology picked up on low-pitched speaking, monotone voices, and repeated words something experts say are social symptoms of anxiety and depression.
