Apex Clean Energy Working, a Virginia company, is working on three projects in our area.
Officials with Apex Clean Energy report the Grady Martin Wind project is in Curry and Quay County. The other two projects are in Texas with the Perryton Wind project in Ochiltree County and Swinford Wind in Moore County.
The Grady Martin Wind is a 297-megawatt project. The project would create approximately 150 full-time local jobs during construction and 10 to 12 long-term local operations positions. Grady Martin is currently being developed and is expected to reach commercial operations in late 2020.
The second project is the Perryton Wind, a 299-megawatt project with an expected COD of fourth quarter 2020. The project would create 160 jobs during construction. The wind farm would be able to power 108,000 homes each year.
Swinford Wind is planned as two 400-megawatt phases located primarily in Moore County, Texas. The project would create approximately 400 local jobs during construction, as well as up to 24 long-term local operations positions. The project would contribute $160 million in tax payments to the localities. Swinford is expected to begin commercial operations in late 2021.
