Just days after it was revealed Amazon’s latest operating system for Fire tablets would no longer encrypt data, the company has changed course.
Last week the company said it was removing the encryption because few customers used the feature.
But many tech experts and users complained – saying the lack of encryption leaves the data stored on Amazon devices vulnerable to hackers.
So the company announced they will return the option for full disk encryption in an update coming this spring.
Data encryption has gotten a lot of attention recently as Apple’s battle with the federal government over data stored on an encrypted iPhone continues.
