Area nonprofits have an excellent opportunity to collect books for use in programs or fundraising at no charge thanks to Friends of the Amarillo Public Library.
The final book sale of 2015 is over and shelves in the basement of the Downtown Library are still loaded with quality fiction and nonfiction books.
Library PR Coordinator Stacy Clopton Yates says the Friends will be working to clear out the remaining books over the next few weeks.
“We’ve actually stopped accepting donations until January 4 to give us time to sort out and dispose of the remaining books in the sale area and we’re hoping area nonprofits will take advantage of the opportunity. It doesn’t matter to the Friends if agencies are collecting the books to add to a library or actually plan to sell them for fundraising, the books are available.”
Stock for the book sale includes donated books, as well as materials withdrawn from the Library collection. Yates says a great many fiction and non-fiction books are still available.
“There are even a few children’s and young adult titles left, but those books go fast. Most of the books that are available now are adult books.”
Interested nonprofits can contact Yates to make an appointment between now and the end of the year to select books, but sooner is better than later for the best selection as volunteers sort out the remaining books. “Some books will be given away.
Others will be shipped to a company that will sell the books online and return a portion to the Friends.”
The next Friends of the Amarillo Public Library Book Sale will take place April 8, 9, & 10. For more information, contact Stacy Clopton Yates at 806-378-3051.
