Amarillo Habitat for Humanity blessed their 108th house Saturday morning on S. Mirror.
Chris Escobar and his children will be the proud owners of a 1,100 sq. ft home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
When he initially applied for the program, Chris and his children were living with his parents, which put him on an air mattress each night. He found out about Amarillo Habitat for Humanity at a point where he felt most lost in his life.
“I am so proud of Chris’s hard work and patience,” says Sarah Curtis, Director of Family Services. “The dedication he has to providing for his family is incredible. The House Blessing is my favorite event at Habitat in that it is the day the homeowners see and feel that their commitment has finally paid off.”
Donors who made this build possible include: Amarillo Coca-Cola Refreshments, two anonymous donors, Atmos Energy, City of Amarillo, Cobblestone Custom Home Design, Inc., Dee’s Framing, Evans Appraisal Service, Junk Monkey, Marble Depot, Valspar Paint, and Whirlpool.
Amarillo Habitat for Humanity Partner Families are chosen by a Family Selection Committee who considers multiple factors including the HUD Median Family Income Chart, employment history and credit references.
