The Amarillo Fire Department will be resuming normal operations after temporarily postponing Public Education appearances at local schools station tours due to the flu outbreak.
The decision to stop appearances came on Feb. 6 during peak flu season in an effort to prevent the spread of the flu.
The decision to resume the appearances and tours comes after analyzing data provided by the Department of Public Health.
If at any point throughout the year there are over 1,000 cases of the flu reported, ASD suspends non-emergency appearances.
The most recent report indicates that cases have dropped to 924, allowing the department to resume normal operations.
