UPDATE (2:40 PM): The Amarillo Fire Department released a statement on their Facebook page saying the grass fire east of Rick Husband Airport is under control.
The statement said crews will continue to knock down hot spots, but the fire is contained.
Early estimates show 50 to 100 acres burned with no injuries or structures lost.
AFD thanked all of the agencies involved.
AFD and Potter County Fire started battling the blaze after it was reported around 11:37 a.m.
Officials said the fire started near Progress Rail and report that so far nothing has been hit, but firefighters are protecting structures.
14 Amarillo Fire units and 2 Potter County units responded.
