Amarillo Fire Department Announces November Retirements and Promotions

Amarillo Fire Department would like to congratulate and recognize the following members that retired or promoted in November 2017.

Captain Mikal Orr retired after serving the citizens of Amarillo for 13 years. Captain Orr was assigned to the Wildland firefighting program.

Lieutenant Adam Perry promoted to Captain and will remain in the Technical Rescue program.

We would also like to welcome the new probationary firefighters that start their first shift on December 6th.

The new firefighters are finishing up a rigorous six-week orientation. They are learning City and Fire department policies and procedures plus strategies, tactics, and tasks performed at emergency incidents.

The orientation includes classroom and field exercises including live fire scenarios performed at the AFD training facility.
