Drinking alcohol may be more harmful than originally thought– especially for younger adults.
A new study suggests– though moderate alcohol consumption is considered potentially healthy– many studies only involved people over the age of 50.
Researchers say for people under 50, the numbers may not be as good.
In fact, the new study found 36 percent of deaths related to alcohol were in people aged 20 to 49.
The findings suggest — previous studies that enrolled older adults underestimated the risks of alcohol for drinkers of all ages.
The study was published in the “Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs.”
