AMARILLO, Texas - Fifth and sixth-grade students competed against each other in AISD's Battle of the Books.
In teams of five, students answered questions about a list of books the groups have read in preparation for the competition.
The top teams were awarded trophies and medals at the end three rounds.
"Battle of the Books is intense," said Meg Davis, Librarian at AISD, "The kids have to know those books inside and out because the questions focus on a lot of the details. They have to know everything about the book, the questions have to be analyzed. They have to have a large vocabulary. This is for our serious readers."
This program was designed to encourage students to read more quality literature.
