A local boy got the golden buzzer hit on his dreams.
Seven-year-old Shay Patel has been a huge fan of “America’s Got Talent” for as long as his family could remember. They said he not only longed to be on the show but he wanted to meet one of the judges in particular.
Lucky for him, a little “Make-A-Wish” magic made it happen.
From Howie to Simon and even Mel B., but none of them compared to when Patel met his AGT crush.
“Shay fell in love with Heidi right away. He knew who she was,” said Rimal Patel, Shay’s Dad.
“Shay just loves Heidi Klum,” said Carolina Walden, Turn Center Director of Development. “You know when the show comes on, he says ‘Heidi’ and it’s the sweetest thing in the world.”
About three years ago, the Patel family got a call from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They met up with Shay to hear what he wanted.
Most Make-A-Wish kids want to go to Disneyland, Disney World, or even Hawaii, but not Shay.
“Make-A-Wish thought, you know that might be kind of hard to grant that wish but they made it happen, and Shay and his family were so excited to go. I know he was just thrilled to be able to be there, and Heidi was so sweet to hold him, and he actually did get the kiss from Heidi Klum,” said Walden.
Shay’s dad said not only did Make-A-Wish provide the ultimate AGT experience for Shay, but they also created a fun-filled experience during their five days stay in Los Angeles.
Tonight was the season finale of “America’s Got Talent” and Shay’s dad said his son was rooting for Brian, the electronic violinist.
While in LA, Patel said he and his family sat in on the contestant rehearsals, attended the live show, were given tickets to Universal Studios and got the chance to take a tram to Venice Beach.
