A look at candidates running for Amarillo City Council Place Four

Today we are taking a closer look at the candidates who are running for Amarillo City Council Place Four. 

Steven Rosas is a newcomer to political campaigning. He said he is running because he loves and cares about Amarillo, and it’s his time to act. Rosas is an Amarillo native, a business owner, and a father.

He said he is running for the empowerment of citizens, a and said he wants to see that taxes are managed responsibly. 

Incumbent Howard Smith owns Howard Smith Co. Realtors, and was born here in Amarillo. 

The Amarillo High grad went to Baylor, earning his undergrad and MBA before attending US Officer Candidate school and US Navy Supply school. He served on the Amarillo School Board for 10 years and has served on the Amarillo Planning and Zoning Commission, as well as other advisory boards. Smith has been married for nearly 50 years, has two sons and five grandkids.

He said one of the things he is so proud of is coordinating solving problems when it comes to development in Amarillo.
