By participating in Relay For Life, you help fuel the mission of the American Cancer Society.
This year’s Relay For Life event is on Friday, April 27 at Polk Street United Methodist Church.
The evening starts with a look at the great silent auction items available. You will then have the opportunity to taste all of the delightful food and beverage items available from the different team booths. Get your face painted and join in on the games being held throughout the night and at different booths. Look forward to the Cinderella Ball Gown contest, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car race and try your luck at a Disney song on a kazoo or Disney Trivia. There will be Survivor and Caregiver recognition and a chance to remember and honor friends and family during the Luminaria ceremony.
- 6:30 pm Opening Ceremony
Time to get started. Kick off the event by honoring everyone who’s been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s Relay season.
- 6:50 Survivor/Caregiver Walk
Survivors and Caregivers are the heart and soul of Relay For Life events. Honor their strength and courage with every step they take.
- 9:00 Luminaria Ceremony
During this ceremony, everyone touched by cancer is represented with a Luminaria. Each light represents a life—a life taken by cancer, a survivor of cancer, or a support for a person still fighting the disease. It’s a powerful demonstration that gives people the opportunity to grieve but also offers comfort and hope.
- 11:00 Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony is the time to commit to take action and help lead the fight for a world free from cancer.
