$200,000, 33 Pounds of Marijuana Seized During Traffic Stop Near Conway

DPS seized 33 pounds of marijuana Wednesday after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County. 
 
At 1:06p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander traveling east on I-40 near Conway, for a traffic violation. 
 
A DPS canine unit was called to the scene and alerted on the vehicle. The trooper then discovered several vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana inside two large suitcases.  The drugs are valued at approximately $200,000.
 
The driver, Richard Crawford, 56, of Jonesborough, Tenn., and passenger, Gregory Cooper, 30, of Telford, Tenn., were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Crawford and Cooper were transported and booked into the Carson County jail.
 
The drugs allegedly were being transported from California to Tennessee.
