AMARILLO - A 17-year old is charged with murder after the shooting death of an 18-year-old in July.
Amarillo Police say Matthew Montero Cano, was charged in Potter County with Murder Intentionally or Knowingly causing death and Murder Intend to Cause Serious Bodily Injury Causing Death.
On July 1, police were sent to the 1600 block of N. Manhattan on reports of a shooting.
Officers arrived and reportedly found 18-year-old Aaron Lancaster, lying on the ground, while others performed life-saving measures.
Lancaster was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Police say Cano was a juvenile at the time of the shooting and was taken into custody.
He has now been certified as an adult and was booked into the Potter County Detention Center, March 5.
