Team USA will sport the first-ever illuminated Olympic flag bearer jacket by Ralph Lauren during the 2016 Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Ralph Lauren released the statement on YouTube with a preview of the new technology:

“Introducing the first-ever illuminated flag bearer jacket, which combines cutting-edge technology with iconic style. Seen here on Cliff Meidl, who carried the flag for the US in 2000, the jacket will make its Olympic debut on Friday, August 5, in front of a global audience at the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Back in April, Ralph Lauren unveiled the closing ceremony uniforms for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams.

“The USOC is proud to have Polo Ralph Lauren as an official outfitter of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team, providing iconic parade uniforms and an authentic sportswear collection of commemorative pieces for men, women and children,” the United States Olympic Committee said.

The Official Polo Ralph Lauren Team USA Closing Ceremony Uniform went on sale April 27, on RalphLauren.com, and was placed on select retail store shelves in May.

The collection can also be purchased, with Visa cards only, at TeamUSAShop.com.
