Cancer patients and alternative medicine

Cancer Care

Many cancer patients are using alternative forms of therapy instead of or in addition to conventional medicine.

That’s according to a new look at survey data of more than 3,000 cancer patients and survivors.

A third of those patients reported using complementary or alternative therapies such as herbal supplements, massage, acupuncture, special diets, and meditation.

Among those patients, 29-percent didn’t tell their doctors either because they didn’t think they needed to know or the doctors simply didn’t ask.
