Federal criminal complaint filed against former Mexican officer allegedly trafficking cocaine

A federal criminal complaint has been filed against a former Mexican officer in the country illegally for trafficking cocaine across the country.

The complaint states the former officer was pulled over for numerous traffic violations.

During a search of the vehicle, the trooper found three concealment traps on the vehicle; one in the bed of the vehicle, one in the rear interior panel which was operated by a makeshift trunk latch, and on in the floor of the vehicle. That is where the trooper found 33 bundles of cocaine weighing nearly 80 pounds.

During the investigation, the former officer told officials that he knew he was transporting the drugs and was being paid $6,000 for the cross country trip from San Diego to Miami, Florida.

The driver said he was going through difficult times and needed the money after entering the United States illegally seven months ago.
