There are many activities to participate in on the High Plains this weekend, May 18 and 19.

The Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society is taking part in National Adoption Weekend at PetSmart. On Saturday, May 18, the adoption will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Hope & Healing Place is hosting its 10th Annual Half Marathon on Saturday at 7 a.m. It is taking place at the Amarillo National Bank- Plaza One. This run is to honor loved ones who are no longer here.

There is a Blaze Coffee Benefit Ride put on by the Panhandle Wild Hogs. The first bike will ride out on Saturday at 9 a.m. This benefit is in honor of Terry Coffee’s son, Blaze, who lost his life at the age of 20. The proceeds of this event will benefit Coffee Memorial.

Hansford Heritage Days is taking place in Spearman on Saturday, May 18. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and there will be musical guests performances. 

On Saturday, there is a commencement set for the School of Pharmacy Class of 2019. The commencement starts at 10 a.m. It will be held at the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium.

The City of Amarillo Building Safety Department is hosting a cookout for Building Safety Month on Saturday. The cookout will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Home Depot on Georgia Street.

The Ascension Academy is offering a Life Skills 101 Class to graduating seniors. The class will begin at 10 a.m. and go until 1 p.m.

The Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home is inviting the community to its art exhibition. The event is raising funds for the Home. It opens at 6:30 p.m. and goes until 8:30 p.m.

The Center City of Amarillo invites people to tour downtown Amarillo on Sunday, May 19. The tour starts at the historic Firestone Building at 10th and Tyler Street and showcases unique features of Amarillo. The tour starts at 2 p.m.

The Amarillo SPCA is hosting Muttfest 2019- “All-Star Dogs” on Sunday from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. It is happening at Memorial Park and it is free to the public.

Amarillo College’s radio station, FM90, is hosting its first Blues Fest. The California duo, The Lucky Losers, will be headlining the festival. It will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. The event will be held at the Starlight Ranch Event Center.
