Flu Fighting Foods

Flu season has begun! Has everyone in your family been vaccinated against the flu?  If you answered yes…GOOD for you! If you just hid behind your TV, don’t worry, there is still time.

The flu vaccine take about two weeks to fully protect against the flu virus. 

Staying healthy during the flu season is important to help fight winter viruses that will soon invade your home.  One way to stay healthy this winter? Boost your family’s immune system with natural flu-fighting foods.

Almonds: are very popular as they are a rich source of Vitamin E an antioxident that protects your from viral infections. Try chopped almonds or almond butter which the body can easily absorb.

Black-eyed peas are nutritious land loaded with zinc These beans help keep your immune system in good working order.

Carrots are rich in beta-carotene which your body uses to ward off respiratory infections.

Tomatoes are vitamin C rich which helps fight colds and flu by boosting the body’s natural defense system just like citrus fruits.  One medium tomato provides 40% of your daily vitamin C so treat your family to pasta tonight!

And yogurt, loaded with probiotics a beneficial bacteria that helps strengthen the immune system and naturally balances organisms in your belly.
