1/2 Bushel Cucumbers (12 lbs)
Slice to wanted size. If crispier pickle desired, soak in 2 cups of household lime in 2 gallons of water for 24 hours.
1 Qt Vinegar
2 Qt Water
1 Cup Salt
Heat to a boil.
Add cucumbers to jars then add per jar:
1 Clove Garlic
1/4 t Alum
2-3 t Dill Seeds (or Dill Weed)
1/4 t Red Pepper
Pour hot brine over cucumbers and place lids and rings on jars. Turn over and place in hot water until lids pop.
Makes 6-7 Quarts
