AMARILLO -- The Xcel Energy Foundation has awarded $383,500 in focus area grants to 76 nonprofit groups across the companys Texas and New Mexico service area.
The grants were made through the Arts & Culture, Education, Economic Sustainability and Environment focus areas of the Xcel Energy Foundation, which provides grant funding to nonprofit groups working in towns and cities served by Xcel Energy.
"Area nonprofits play a key role in improving the quality of life in our communities, and we view our support as investments in our future," said Riley Hill, president and CEO of Southwestern Public Service Company, an Xcel Energy company.
Xcel Energys Texas-New Mexico service territory covers most of the Panhandle and South Plains regions of Texas, and the eastern and southeastern counties of New Mexico. Organizations receiving money are 501(c)3 tax-exempt agencies that serve towns and cities within this region.
