Utility Companies Proposing New Transmission Lines Through High Plains

Golden Spread Electric Co-Op has teamed up with Sharyland Utilities and filed an application with the public utilities commission.
AMARILLO -- Some utility companies are proposing new transmission lines to connect users to wind energy produced here on the high plains.

Golden Spread Electric Co-Op has teamed up with Sharyland Utilities and filed an application with the public utilities commission.

They're asking for a transmission line that would run from Hale County through Floyd County to connect to the electric reliability council of Texas grid or EROCT.

If its approved, the new transmission line would be up and running by June 2016.
