AMARILLO -- Traffic is expected to be moved off of the southbound Canadian River Bridge on US 87/287 sometime after 9 a.m. tomorrow.
All southbound US 87/287 traffic will be moved to the northbound bridge span at that time. Traffic will be down to one lane in each direction over the northbound span.
The southbound Canadian River Bridge will be demolished later this month and replaced with a new span. Work will continue on the new bridge until December 2014, when the new span is expected to be completed (weather permitting).
The current structure, located over the Canadian River in northern Potter County, has reached its lifespan and was showing signs of deterioration.
