Tire Safety 101

Tire Safety 101

Arrive Safely at Your Holiday Destination
'Tis the season for visiting family, friends and loved ones sometimes far away. That means it's also the time of year to make sure your tires will get you there safely.

Safety Reminders:
1. In the excitement for the upcoming holiday travel, many drivers overlook an important aspect that is critical to keeping them and their families safe while on the road- their tires.

2. Bald tires cannot properly grip the road and can lead to slipping, sliding and even accidents - especially in wet and icy weather conditions.

3. Tires should be replaced when the tread is worn down to 2/32nds of an inch.

4. Making sure that your tires are safe for the road is easy and economical - all you need is a penny.

The Penny test:  Insert Abe's head upside down into the tread in a couple of spots on each tire. If you can see the entire top of his head, your tread is less that one-sixteenth of an inch deep - below the level where you can count on it in slippery conditions. It should be replaced.
