UPDATE: According to DPS, a total of three trains were involved in the collision. An eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe was stopped when it was rear ended by another eastbound train. A few seconds later, a westbound train then hit the wreckage which had spilled onto the westbound tracks. One of the trains was carrying hazardous material but did not spill. Four crew members were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
DPS has confirmed two trains have collided early this morning near Hwy 60 East of Amarillo. A possible third train is involved. Hazardous materials may have been leaked and crew members of the train were injured. Troopers are on the scene. Check back for updates.
