Standoff Shuts Down School

Wrestler Michael Dibiase Arrested after 12 Hour Standoff
AMARILLO -- A man wanted for parole revocation is arrested after a 12 hour standoff with Amarillo police.  Michael Wills Dibiase, 36, was found hiding among cardboard boxes in an office building on the 3900 block of NW 12th before noon Thursday.

Police arrived at the building 12 hours earlier after receiving a tip that Dibiase was at that location.  Police found his car, but could not locate Dibiase.

After witnesses told police an unknown man was inside tearing through walls, the SWAT team was called in.

Police eventually tracked down Dibiase and took him into custody without incident.  He is being held in the Randall county jail on the parole revocation charge but is also facing another charge of hindering apprehension in Potter county.

An school near the scene of the standoff cancelled morning classes.  But, the Amarillo Area Center for Advanced Learning (AACAL) reopened later Thursday afternoon.

Dibiase was convicted of tampering with/destroying evidence in a previous case.  That's why police were searching for him on the parole revocation warrant.

        No one was injured.
