New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez announced a new education initiative will pay 400 New Mexico teachers an additional $5,000 to help struggling schools.
Called the first step, the initiative rewards 100 teachers who agree to move from school with an A or B rating, to one with a D or F.
300 currently teaching AP classes will be eligible for an incentive.
According to Susana, teachers who take on the biggest challenges and succeed with the student deserve to be rewarded.
