September 26, Thursday Afternoon Forecast

Increasing clouds and increasing rain chances! Sounds like a great day...
Happy Thursday everyone! We are tracking a cold front north of the area this morning that is set to barrel through the area as we move through the day tomorrow and into Saturday. With it comes more cloud cover, better rain chances and cooler temperatures.

All good things!

As it looks right now even the severe weather threat is rather low. The main threats as we move through your Friday and into Saturday are heavy rains, small hail and gusty winds. That said, we'll be watching it very closely.

Meanwhile, for today, with more breezy to windy conditions, high temperatures will be warm again. Winds from the southwest at 15 to 25mph will again push highs back into the 80s and 90s. In fact, today in Amarillo we'll hit 89 degrees! That is about 10 degrees above average.

Tomorrow will start out like today, mild and clear but clouds will be on the increase as we head into the afternoon. By dinner time a few showers and storms will begin to fire along the Texas / New Mexico border. As it looks right now, by about the 7pm to 9pm hours the storms will begin to roll through Amarillo. Keep this in mind as you head out to watch the kids play football on Friday night.

Again our main concerns are high wind, small hail and heavy downpours.

We'll watch all of this closely as everything develops. Keep checking back for updates!
