(KPNX) A mother who gave up her son for adoption decades ago now has him back.
The waiting was the hardest part for Roberta Jenkins.
Sitting in an empty airport terminal for hours, she was left to wonder what the son she lost so long ago would think of her.
"Is he going to like me? What if he doesn't like me? What if he's sorry he came?" she asked.
Roberta split from her husband right after their second son was born. Her family wouldn't help her and she had nowhere to go.
With no job, no education and no way to support her young boys, she gave brothers Bobby and John up for adoption.
But Roberta says she never stopped looking for them.
It took 46 years - but one day in May, Bobby called her. A reunion was soon arranged.
"If this weren't meant to be it wouldn't have happened," Roberta says.
When Bobby, now Bob, got of a plane in Phoenix, Arizona Roberta's fears were unfounded.
He greeted his long lost mother with a loving embrace.
