A ride to bring awareness to veteran suicide made a stop in Amarillo today. They're called Project 22, named because there are 22 veterans who commit suicide every day. Two veterans are riding their motorcycles across the country in 22 days. They plan to interview leading researchers along the way who specialize in traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder. One of those veterans, Doc King said they are just trying to put together some hopeful information in a fun motorcycle documentary that will hopefully reach some veterans that haven't reached out for help. King served in Iraq in 2004 and 2005 as a medic. After retiring as a sergeant he became a police officer with the Medina Police Department in Washington, before resigning due to PTSD.
