Perfect Aim

DALHART -- Being 12 years old can be hard, No longer a kid, but not quite a teenager either. But Maize Mcmurry of Dalhart is entering her teenage years with a bang, proving age doesn't matter out on the firing range.

DALHART -- Being 12 years old can be hard, No longer a kid, but not quite a teenager either. But Maize Mcmurry of Dalhart is entering her teenage years with a bang, proving age doesn't matter out on the firing range.

Maize competes in the United States Practical Association, which may seem like a lot for a 12 year old. But she's a pro who learned from her dad.

"He's the one that got me started," said Maize. "He said hey Maize I want you to try and shoot this guy."

"She picked up the gun instantly and loved shooting," said Kelly, Maize's dad. "We're very safe, and she's not scared one bit.

She's been competing for a few years now keeping one mantra in her head.

"Hey I can do this," said Maize. "But oh I hope I don't shoot my foot!"

For this family of sharpshooters it's all about confidence, and after taking a round myself on the range believe me when I say...it's a lot harder than it looks.
