Don't expect to see a deal on the federal budget this week in Congress.
Senior Republican and Democratic aides tell CNN that the two leaders running negotiations have left Washington for the weekend.
That means an agreement is not expected until next week at the earliest.
House Budget chairman Paul Ryan and Senate Budget chairwoman Patty Murray are leading a budget conference committee that has until December 13 to set the spending level for the federal government.
If they fail, it would set off another potential budget showdown.
Current government funding runs out in January, near the same time as billions of dollars in new budget cuts are set to hit.
