The future looks a lot brighter for people with chronic dry eye in the Panhandle.
"Dry eye is a very significant problem in the Texas Panhandle. In fact, we're one of the worst places in the country for patients who suffer from dry eye problems," Dr. John Todd Cornett with Premier Vision said.
Dr. Cornett has brought a new dry eye treatment to the Panhandle for the first time to treat symptoms such as blurred vision, sensitivity to light, and a gritty eye feeling. He says it could be the solution to dry eye for good.
"Many of the treatment options that we have had in the past, while they're effective, don't offer complete control of dry symptoms," Dr. Cornett said," The process is a very simple, twelve minute, non-invasive procedure that will go to the root cause of much of the problems that cause dry eye in the first place."
The procedure involves warming the eyelid to soten oils and gels in the eye and help the glands function more properly.
According to Dr. Cornett, dry eye is a progressive condition that gets worse over time and early treatment can make a big difference. The treatment costs around $800 per eye.
The good news, the procedure is in the Panhandle right now, so the cure to you dry eye could be in sight.
