AMARILLO -- If there was any night for your odds to be ever in your favor, Tuesday night was one to hope for. With over $600 million in winnings on the line, your chances are as good as anyone's
For each participant, the odds are not good, however. You have a 1 in 250 million chance of matching all six numbers on your ticket to win the biggest prize.
That is the bad news.
The good news is that if your numbers are the ones picked in Tuesday night's drawing, you'll win $636 million. That's for the payments over thirty years.
Should you choose the cash value option, you're looking at $341 million.
Some folks would be happy with helping the family with that kind of coin.
Of course, if you didn't match all six numbers, but got just a few, hopefully you paid a little extra to win up to $5 million.
You can feel pretty good about throwing in your lot for that chunk of change. Outside of the big winner, kids also benefit from the lottery.
During the normal selling period from Saturday to Tuesday night, money from tickets bought will be between $500,000 and $600,000. Lottery officials are expecting that to rise to over $20 million.
If there is no winner, the jackpot is expected to reach $1 billion.
