(NBC News) Thousands of abortion opponents crowded on Washington, D.C.'s snow covered National Mall Wednesday for the annual March for Life.
March organizers say they're retooling their message and emphasizing the importance of adoption over the traditional anti-abortion message.
"For every one child that's adopted, 64 are aborted," said March For Life president Jeanne Monahan. "We want to help more children actually have the right to life."
Pro-choice advocates met marchers at the Supreme Court with a counter message.
"This is an extreme agenda," said NARAL president Ilyse Hogue. "It starts with abortion, it does not end there. These people also vote against contraception."
