Man Arrested After Hit and Run

An Amarillo man leaves the scene after allegedly running a stop sign and hitting a car.
Amarillo Police arrest 40 year old Michael Ray Kennedy for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident on the night of September 12 in Amarillo.

Around 11:00 PM , officers were sent to 22nd and S. Bolton Street.

Police found a 1995 Buick Rivera had been northbound on S. Bolton when a Chevrolet pickup going westbound on Bolton reportedly ran the stop sign, hitting the Buick.

The impact caused the pickup to roll and strike a utility pole on the northwest corner of the intersection.

The driver of the Buick complained of a head injury and was transported to a hospital by ambulance.

 His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. 

Police say the driver of the pickup fled the scene. 

At about 11:40 PM, officers located the driver of the vehicle on foot in the 4600 block of S. Bonham. 

They arrested Michael Ray Kennedy of Amarillo for failure to stop and render aid at an accident with serious bodily injury and a traffic warrant. 

He was booked into the Randall County Jail.
