Local Man Arrested For Money Laundering After Traffic Stop

Officers located over $200,000 in cash wrapped in plastic, hidden in the dashboard of the vehicle.
AMARILLO -- On Tuesday at 4:45 p.m., an Amarillo motorcycle officer stopped a silver 2007 Honda SUV in the 5500 block of IH40 West for a traffic violation. The vehicle had been traveling westbound on IH-40.

The officer noted that the driver was nervous and asked for consent to search the vehicle. The driver consented and a K-9 officer was sent to help search the vehicle. 

The police dog alerted on the vehicle. The officers then searched the car. 

Officers located over $200,000 in cash wrapped in plastic, hidden in the dashboard of the vehicle. 

The driver of the vehicle Curtis Gonzales, 35, was booked into the Potter Co. Detention Center on a charge of money laundering over $200,000.
