(NBC News) NASA launched an unmanned rocket from Cape Canaveral Thursday night.
The rocket is carrying a new NASA communication satellite into orbit.
It is the latest, third-generation tracking and data relay satellite known as t-d-r-s-l.
At the cost of about 350-million dollars per mission NASA uses the satellites to support the International Space Station and Hubble Space Telescope.
The liftoff was briefly delayed by a last-minute data dropout.
