AMARILLO -- A judge is appointed by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to oversee the hearing of an Amarillo convicted killer.
Brent Ray Brewer claims he had ineffective council during his murder trial.
He was originally sentenced to death for the murder of Robert Laminack in 1991. But, the US Supreme Court overturned that sentence saying Brewer's mental health was not considered.
So far, Brewer has been tried twice for the murder and reconvicted each time.
The Court of Appeals will decide whether to uphold the conviction or order a new appeal.
