AMARILLO -- JCPenney's closing 33 stores across the US but Amarillo's store is staying open.
That's according to their website.
The retailer's laying off nearly 2,000 employees.
They say the closing stores are underperforming and this will save them $65-million per year.
JCPenney's gone nine quarters in a row without a profit.
The stores are expected to close by May.
