A High Plains neighborhood has been recognized for how they handle fire situations in their community.
The Palisades was named their second fire wise community in the Texas Panhandle.
The Texas Fire Service gave them the certificate at the Palisades Fire Station.
Palisades Fire Chief Dennis Massey says, "the fire of 2011 started as a wildfire and interfaced into an urban fire, so this is a whole new concept for us. we're trying to get our residents to get fire wise on their houses, and keep everything trimmed back." "
They received the certificate due to how they responded to a fire in 2011.
