Family Sues After Man Dies Falling Down Elevator Shaft

The lawsuit claims the elevator was not inspected and the "Merrick Pet Care" founder neglected to prevent the hazardous situation.
AMARILLO -- The family of an Amarillo man who fell to his death down an elevator shaft is suing the owner of the building.

22-year-old Cade Klink died last month when he fell 30-feet while doing roofing work on a building in downtown Amarillo.

Klink worked for Morgan and Meyers Roofing and Exteriors.

According to the attorney, Klink's family is suing Garth Merrick, the founder of Merrick Pet Care. 

The lawsuit claims the elevator was not inspected and that Merrick neglected to prevent the hazardous situation.

The family is suing for more than a million dollars.
