AMARILLO -- Thanksgiving reminds us to be thankful for the people and blessings in our lives. Folks who are thankful and wanted to give back came to the Faith City Mission to provide the meal to those who would otherwise have had to go without.

There were more volunteers on hand on Wednesday than in the past, from grade schools, colleges, and others around the area, but when working to help people feel at home, there cannot be too many hands.

"A lot of people that come here, they come because they've lost something. They've lost their home or their job or their sobrieity and we want to come together with our volunteers to give them a really good holiday. We want to make them feel loved while they're here and that's so important to us," said Faith City Public Relations Coordinator Ashlee Argo.

Visitors also went to the chapel service, received a medical check up and were given a gift from the mission of socks, candy, gloves and a Bible.

Faith City's slogan this season is "Love Lives Here" and they will never turn away volunteers, since the need is always growing.

Those who come in to help will either set up in the dining room and serve guests or be put to sorting donations.

If you can't give of your time, there are some items people need this time of year, like warm coats, warm blankets, and food donations.

You can call Faith City directly 806-373-6402.
