DUMAS -- DPS arrested Joel A. Sanford, 53, after a traffic stop yields over 51 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.
At 9:17 a.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on US 87, for a traffic violation near Dumas in Moore County. During the stop, the trooper searched the vehicle and discovered 45 bundles of marijuana in the trunk.
Sanford was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Moore County jail. The drugs were allegedly being transported from Sacramento, California to an unknown location.
The marijuana was valued at over $23,000.
